I note with interest your reference to the Respect campaign on your website.

How dissapointing then to note in this match report your very public criticism of a young referee.

Referees are only human the same as the rest of us, there is no indication that thie incident happened before or after the ball crossed the goal line, and I am fairly confident that players of this age are not yet so cynical as to deliberately injure an opponent.

Let's give the ref due respect, he gave up his time to allow young lads to be able to play a sport they enjoy.

So how about a bit of RESPECT for a change rather than constant criticism.

I only publish the various match reports and don't comment on or edit them. You need to refer your comments to the match report author and Tadcaster Albion Blues Manager - Nick Devine at devinenicholas@aol.com I am sure he can solve your issues with report.

I have checked the content of the report and wouldn't consider "the ref missed it" to be disepectful - it's merely an observation about an incident in the game along the lines of "the conditions were poor" or "the bacon sandwiches were cold". I take your point that the referee could be engaged in other less community-minded activities on a Sunday morning, but would also point out (as a fellow manager) that I pay out, on average, £18 per game to the referee that is nominated to my fixture. On the other hand the running of a Junior Football team COSTS me personally between £500 and £700 per year in monetary terms and a much higher premium in emotional terms. Given the referee is paid for is time and has no emotional investment whatsoever, I should be able to expect an above average level of competancy. I cannot comment on this individual case but would venture that whilst players are influenced by the bad behaviour of their senior counterparts, referees are also influenced by their colleagues at a higher level with all that entails....;

As a fellow referee and manager i must say it is hard to please both teams and i find it more or less impossible to get everything correct.People should bare in mind that the person in the middle is the person who take full resonsablity for the game, in the premiership there are 4 officials on sunday's there is only "1" so its especialy harder. However i must also point out that the use of young people in what is to most kids a "high pressure game and has a high impact on them "is in my mind spoiling sunday morning football.May be these young people would be better used in mini soccer for a season to gain experience before been thrown in the deep end with 11 aside football. In the few games that have been played so far the quality of referee's has produced some poor results for teams that should be performing better, we are in danger of loosing teams through incompitance

I would just like to clear up the comment about the ref in our match report as the author and the manager .In no way was the comment ment to be a critisium of the ref i spoke to the ref at the time about it when i went on to give the goaly treatment at which time he said he hadnt see it which i fully accepted nor was i trying to imply that it was done on purpose.I would also like second what was written in reply on my behalf .I am always respectful to any ref we have and expect the same off our boys and parents.I would like to add that i did in fact give the ref a high mark on sunday .I do believe that some of these matches are very difficult for the younger referees and perhaps as suggested the younger leagues would be better .If anoymous you would like to discuss it futher please feel free to e mail me.
