Under 12's beat Magnets 18-0

Keith Sawden's Under 12's team had a fantastic result against Magnets in the Acaster Steel F.A. Cup yesterday. For anyone who doesn't know, Keith is the Club Secretary for TAJFC and he also manages 2 agegroups. Keith even let the U12's goalkeeper have a run out in the second half and he managed to slot one in too. Result!

Poppleton 'v' Tad Albion U9s (28th Sept)

'A' Team Match Reports

1st Game report
Poppleton 3 - 2 Tadcaster Albion
Scorers: James K (2)
Team: Alfie, Charlie, Ethan, George, Harry, James K, Justin, Tom.
On another glorious sunny September morning Tadcaster made their first ever trip to Poppleton and produced a great performance against one of the strongest teams in the league.
Despite going a goal down early on, Tadcaster refused to panic and instead set about playing their way back into the match. Two unanswered goals from James gave Tadcaster the lead but they were soon pegged back again when Poppleton equalised just before half time.
The second half was no less exciting than the first with end to end play from both teams. It was a joy to watch all of the players enjoying themselves in a very evenly matched contest, and as chances came and went at both ends it looked like a draw was on the cards. In the end though, it was a cracking goal from Poppleton which settled things in the last minute.
Tadcaster didn't deserve to lose and will quite rightly be gutted. Overall, the improvement since the last match was huge. This was a great team performance and the willingness of the players to find space and to pass the ball to feet will hopefully provide proof that they can be a team to be reckoned with.
Man of the Match: Tom – great all round performance.

2nd Game report
Poppleton 2 - 1 Tadcaster Albion
Scorers: Alfie
Team: Alfie, Charlie, Ethan, George, Harry, James K, Justin, Tom.
Tadcaster were unchanged from the first game, although Harry and Justin both had stints in goal.
Once again, both teams contributed to a great match in which Poppleton scored a goal in each half only to be pegged back with a goal late on from Alfie. Tadcaster almost got the equaliser they deserved when Ethan unleashed a terrific free kick which looked goal bound, only for it to take a late deflection past the wrong side of the post.
Man of the Match: Charlie – great composure on the ball and also ran his socks off.

Tadcaster Albion 3 - Old Malton 1 (U11's TAJFC)

A good (if laboured) win for Tadcaster Albion JFC's Under 11 team at the Ings today. First time on our 'official' pitch and TAJFC started like they were in a trance.....; Old Malton pressed Tad into their own half continually for the first 20 mins. Luckily Harry Hardy and John Broadley had had a whiff of the smelling salts and kept TAJFC in the game. With admirable persistence the team fought back and eventually prevailed with a 3 - 1 win with a goal from Josh Jackson and 2 from Joel Brown. Man of the Match was Matty Orr with a fantastic workrate. TAJFC remain top of the division and have gained maximum points from their league games. We play away at Copmanthorpe next Sunday in the first round of the Ryedale League Cup.
Housekeeping: Just a reminder - the only people who should remain on the pitch at half-time (or should be giving direct instruction to the players) are the Manager & Coach. Thanks for your input, but it can become confusing for a player to receive directions from all and sundry. Encouragement yes, instruction no. Thankyou.

TAJFC Under 11's - Top of The League

Tadcaster Albion Blues U11's

Tadcaster Albion Blues vs Rawcliffe Warriors

After a disappointing start to our season last week with our first game being cancelled our newly formed team both eager and nervous about our first game on a full size pitch and with goals that seemed like the size of a small house to our lads .Our starting squad were ,CAPTAIN Jonathon white , Jay Devine, Danny Sykes , Luke Buchanan, Jacob Linley , Jacob Daniels, Eddie Fothergill, Matty jewitt, and our debut game for our 4 new signings Josh Simpson-dale, David Armitage, Daniel Downes and Joseph Furness. This week we were missing Stephen Macheta who will hopefully be back with us next week .
After Nick had finished swinging along the top off the cross like a monkey looking something like Kevin Keegan just to put the nets on , the season could begin .
The game began and we set out to a bit of a tentative start and coincided an early goal an excellent goal from Rawcliffe entering the goals just under the cross bar Jay didn't stand a chance .This didn't deter the team and they kept there heads up and play improved as they found their pace and settled in to their new sized pitch .They played some exciting passing football .Both Jacob L and Jonathon both having great outside runs it was from one of these our first goal came from our captain Jonathon followed shortly afterwards by one from Jacob L this was a perfect goal just chipping the the keeper .By half time the score was 3-2 to them . I think at this point the size off the pitch was starting to take its toll on some of our players .Danny Sykes had a fantastic start to the season playing right back and coming back and playing his usual strong game ,he was joined by David Armitage who certainly made his presence felt out on the pitch. Joseph Furness contributed well to the match by having a few good shots on goal he fitted in well in the team as today was the first time he had meet some of our boys .The second half of the game saw another 2 goals 1 from Lukes ever strong left foot and another from Jonathan. unfortunately Rawcliffe also scored a further 4 goals leaving the score 7-4 to Rawcliffe. It was a tough fought game and at some points looked like it could of gone either way it s always good to get the first match of the season out of the way and with as many changes as we have i think all the boys should be very proud of themselves . Today gave us plenty of things to learn and improve on for our next game on Sunday . WELL DONE BOYS . see you all at training .
man of the match this week went to David Armitage

TAJFC 13 - Poppleton 1 (U11's)

Excellent win for Tadcaster Albion Under 11's. Great all-round performances from the squad, on only their second outing together. New signings Josh McCarthy, Matty Orr, Adam Brammar and Joe Simon are really finding their feet and making some great new friends.

As 'Our Mick' was refereeing it was up to 'Director of Football' Nick Brown to offer up some words of encouragement. Great linking play led to 3 goals from Paul Hick, 3 goals from Josh Jackson, first goal of the season from our second-half substitute Ollie Ward and 6 (yes 6!!) from Joel Brown who was awarded 'Man of The Match' by Mick. Tadcaster Albion JFC have gained maximum points so far this season, but will find the competition a bit stiffer away at Norwich Union and Tadcaster Magnets in the next couple of weeks. Man of The Match for last week's game against Pickering was the unstoppable Harry Hardy. Still one or two subs outstanding - please make your cheques for £20 payable to TAJFC and pass them on to Nick Brown as soon as possible - thanks to all of those who have paid already. See you at training on Friday 20th at 6:00pm.

Tad Albion U9s 'v' Wiggington (7th September)

'A' Team Match Reports

Tadcaster Albion 0 – 0 Wiggington
Team: Alfie, Charlie, Edan, Ethan, George, Harry, James K and Joseph.

Tadcaster kicked off their season at home to Wiggington on a beautiful warm, sunny September morning. With the first play of the game, Wiggington produced a stunning team move resulting with the ball in the back of the Tadcaster net. Fortunately for Tadcaster, the eagle eyed referee (thanks Rob) spotted that the ball had actually gone out of play earlier in the move. The pattern for the match was set though as Wiggington controlled the game with their ability to retain possession and the way they passed the ball throughout the team. In fact, if not for a fantastic display of goalkeeping from Alfie, coupled with some rather wayward finishing from Wiggington, Tadcaster could well have been on the end of a thrashing.
It wasn't all doom and gloom though. In terms of effort, nobody could be faulted and, as said already, Alfie was brilliant. In addition, when Tadcaster weren't panicked into hoofing the ball up the pitch and actually managed to keep hold of the ball they created chances for Harry and James K which could have nicked the win.
In summary, Tadcaster were given a lesson today in how to play as a team. Seven good individuals don't necessarily make a good team and there is much to work on in training over the next few weeks.
Man of the Match: Alfie – played an absolute blinder in goal. Well done Alfie !

2nd Game report
Tadcaster Albion 8 – 2 Wiggington
Scorers: Alfie(2), Ethan, George(2), James K(2), James O
Team: Alfie, Charlie, Edan, Ethan, George, Harry, James K, James O and Sam.

Both sides fielded changed lineups, with Wiggington bringing in some of their 'B' team players. As promised before the game, the Tadcaster players rotated positions through defence, midfield and attack at 5 minute intervals. The aim is to produce more rounded players with an understanding of how to play in any position.
The system seemed to work as Tadcaster ran riot. A couple of early goals lifted everyone's confidence and the goals kept coming. A good performance from everyone, with special mentions for Harry in goal, Charlie marauding down the right wing and George who made the most of being released from his usual defensive role.
Man of the Match: George – played really well and thoroughly deserved his goals. Well done George !

Can you kick it? - TAJFC U11's take off!

Tadcaster Albion JFC Under 11's played their first ever 11-a-side match at Tadcaster Grammar School today. With a couple of new star-signings, the offside rule and a MASSIVE pitch to take into account, our boys came out fighting and really impressed. Everyone played to the best of their ability with superb performances from Harry Hardy and Sam Cheetham in defence. Goalkeeper John Broadley was razor-sharp and was genuinely unlucky to concede.
Goals came from Josh Jackson, Joel Brown and new signing Matty 'Berbatov' Orr.
The new boys showed some real promise - particularly as they had been thrown in the deep end and had never played together before. I'm hoping to mention all of these players by name (in association with outstanding performances!) in the next few weeks........; Final Score - Tadcaster 3 (should have been 5!) Pickering 1.
Special shout out to our comrade of many a year - Jonathon White. Jonathon (who has appeared for both the old "A" and "B" teams) has accepted the offer to become Captain of 'Tadcaster Albion Blues'. I would liken this move to when Gordon Strachan moved from Manchester United to Leeds United, became their Captain and took them to the top of the old Division One. (Ask your Dad - he'll remember!) It's a selfless move by Jonathon and all of the coaches within Tadcaster Albion will be watching your progress with interest and encouragement. Well done that man!
Through a lot of hard work, I've managed to recruit the requisite number of players needed for both Tadcaster Albion Under 11's teams to start the season; However we could still do with a few more - please ask around your schools and friends and we will happy to see some other new faces at Friday training and weekend matches. Please ask them to contact me on 01937 832443.
