Under 10's (B-Team) Match Reports - January 2008

6th January 2008
Tadcaster Magnets 2 - Tadcaster Albion 0 (B-Team)

A fantastic start back after the Christmas break . Even though the score does not represent fully the superb football played by the B team against the league leaders . We held our own with all the team working together to really make them fight for the goals our defence was a force to reckoned with Harry J and Eddie F performing to their usual high standards . The 1st goal came from an amazing header straight into the top right hand corner and the 2nd being an unlucky deflection . Danny did a fantastic job of man marking a player much bigger than him and prevented him from scoring on a couple of occasions . The strikers fought hard to score but unfortunately it wasn't to be our day . Everyone walked away with their heads held high at an outstanding performance .

Man of the Match (1st game) The Whole Team .
Man of the Match 2nd game Harry J.

13th January 2008.
Tadcaster Albion 0 - Osbaldwick 2 (B-Team)

An under par performance for us this week . This was yet again another tough match against the second in the league. We, unfortunately, lost to the better team on the day . We showed moments of our usual standard with Danny S and Eddie F battling hard for some of the match . Becks was (as always) reliable and thinking about her position making sure she was in place to score if the ball reached her.

Man of the Match (1st game) Eddie F.
Man of the Match (2nd game) Danny S.

20th January 2008.
Brooklyn 0 - Tadcaster Albion 1(B-Team)

A much better performance and back to our winning ways . This again was to be a difficult match played on a pitch with a certain slope . The defence held firm with solid performances from Eddie, Harry, James. Jay pulled off some solid saves to keep Brooklyn's strikers from scoring . With Jacob L making a run and scoring the only goal of the match he earned himself Man of the Match. The second game had players changing positions completely, with Harry J and Jonathan W both taking turns in goal and doing a very good job and Jay playing striker and scoring the winning goal to finish off what Matty J and Jacob L had started . This left the full time score 2 -3. Luke earned himself Man of the Match for the second game for his solid performance in left wing displaying strength and good ball control .

Man of the Match (1st game) Jacob L.
Man of the Match (2nd game) Luke .

27th January 2008.
Tadcaster Albion 2 - Pickering 1(B-Team)

This was always going to be a game of two halves, with the wind playing a major part. Pickering won the toss and decided to play with the wind at their backs in the first half and it was no surprise when they went a goal up. Tadcaster Albion B Team soon rallied in the second half to bring it back to a draw with a well taken goal from Jacob L, soon followed up by a second goal from Jacob D with a great strike. Stephen played to his usual standard covering most of the pitch with his tireless legs . Jonathan was again an important part of the team and moved into Beck's spot on t and managed to play her position with pride (hope your feeling better Becks!). Harry J, Matthew A and Eddie F all showed their usual skill and great team spirit. Many thanks to Graham for his usual high standard of refereeing.

Leeds Utd Name McAllister as New Boss

Our contacts within Leeds Utd were obviously on the right track.........!
Leeds have appointed former player Gary McAllister as their new manager after Dennis Wise's move to Newcastle.
Ex-Scotland midfielder McAllister, 43, who played for Leeds from 1990 to 1996, has joined initially until the summer.
He also played for Leicester, Liverpool and Coventry, whom he managed for 18 months before leaving to care for wife Denise, who died of cancer in 2006.
McAllister, who won 57 caps, was in the frame for the Scotland job before Alex McLeish was appointed in 2007.
However, he pulled out of the running to succeed McLeish early on and George Burley got the job earlier this month.
Wise left the club on Tuesday after 15 months in charge, while assistant Dave Bassett has also departed.

A Team v B Team (Under 10's) - February 10th 2008

We have plannned a 'mini-tournament' for the Under 10's on Sunday 10th Feb from 10:30pm.

It will take place at the Ings (subject to pitches) with chips & sausages to follow (subject to clubhouse drying out). Nick Devine will be rotating the teams so that everyone gets a chance to play against everyone else. These matches should put us in good stead for the final 5 league games we have between now and the end of the season.

Dennis Wise Leaves Leeds Utd!

Leeds Utd's Manager sensationally quit the League One title contenders today and we had our roving reporters at Leeds Utd's Thorpe Arch Academy within minutes of the announcement. The mood was bouyant with a few names being whispered in the corridors of Yorkshire's Number One Football Club, including Gary McAllister (popular), Sam Allardyce (unlikely), Jose Murihno (very unlikely), Vinny Jones (!!) and Steve McClaren (we can lend him a brolly).

Tad Albion U8s ‘v’ Fulford (27th Jan)

U8 Yellow Team Match Report
1st Game report
Tadcaster Albion 2 – 1 Fulford
Scorers: Harry, James

Tadcaster lined up for the first game with Alfie in goal; Joseph and Emily in defence; James and Megan; Harry up front.
Tadcaster were caught napping at the start, conceding a very early goal. Thankfully, they responded immediately and set about getting themselves back in the game, and by the end of the match, every single player had played their part in this fantastic team effort. Joseph and Emily at the back, along with Megan in midfield tackled and battled for everything, whilst James and Harry had some neat passing interchanges up front. Harry played his best game for some weeks and having been denied a couple of times, his determination to get a goal was rewarded when he fired in a fantastic low shot across the Fulford goalkeeper to level the scores. Half Time score Tadcaster 1, Fulford 1.
Sam and Daniel came on for Emily and Megan. Another fantastic 10 minutes saw Tadcaster continue where they left off in the first half. Dan continued his improvement with some brave tackling and Sam did well, but the hero for Tad again was Alfie in goal, especially his ‘save of the season’ – full length to tip the ball round the post. Chances came and went and a draw might have been seen as a fair result, but this team never gives up and in the last minute James ran at the Fulford defence and saw his left foot shot half saved by the Fulford ‘keeper, hit the cross bar and then spin backwards into the goal to seal the win for Tadcaster. ‘Lucky’ was the response from the Fulford touchline, but it was luck Tadcaster deserved for their determination and for never giving up.

2nd Game report
Tadcaster Albion 1 – 3 Fulford
Scorers: Alfie

The line up for the friendly game was Harry in goal, Emily and Daniel in defence; James, Sam and Joseph in midfield; Alfie up front.
Again Tadcaster conceded an early goal, but battled their way back into the game when Alfie smashed the ball high into the Fulford goal. Half time score Tadcaster 1, Fulford 1.
Megan took the ‘keepers jersey for the second half and Tadcaster were in contention until late in the match when two quick goals settled the match for Fulford.

Man of the Match: This was a fantastic team effort and any one of the players could have won the award. It goes to Joseph this week though, who continues to improve quickly both in defence and in midfield. Well done Joseph !

Flashback - Summer 2006 - Otley Tournament!

Here's a blast from the past............ In the summer of 2006 Tadcaster Riverside Albion entered the famous Otley Tournament for the first time - and won!

It was a blistering hot day - just after England's exit from The World Cup - the teams played magnificently and one of our lads was scouted for Leeds Utd (and still attends Thorpe Arch Academy 2 years later).

Here's a short tongue-in-cheek video of the day:-

Under 10's Indoor Training - Friday 25th January

Slight change from previous weeks in that Indoor Training will take place at 6:00pm 'til 7:00pm on Friday night. The venue is unchanged - we need to be at Tadcaster Leisure Centre for 5:50pm for a prompt start. Please remember to bring your 50p subs and trainers.

We are 'at home' to Pickering on Sunday and will be playing at Riverside School. Mick will confirm the time on Friday night as it is likely we will be sharing the facilities with the Under 9's.

Any queries - Mick's number is 07931 305930.

Tadcaster Albion v Osbaldwick (Under 10's)

Well done to the Under 10's who beat fellow title-chasers Osbaldwick 4-1 in a real 'muck & bullets' game down at Riverside on Sunday. Let's hope we can show the same mettle against Brooklyn on 20th Jan.

Tadcaster Albion U10's Title Race!

The top of the table is really hotting up with both A & B Teams in with a chance of taking the title. Sundays game, away to Brooklyn, is a crucial match and we would like as much support as possible from Mums, Dads, Grannies, Grandads, Pets. Don't forget Friday training - Nick Brown has booked indoor training for us at a concessionary rate - please bring your 50p's (and any subs you forgot to bring last time we played indoors!) - Training shoes only - 6:45 to 8:00 - Tad Leisure Centre Friday 18th Jan 2008.

Tad Albion U8's v Heworth 13th Jan 2008

U8’s Tadcaster Riverside Albion ‘v’ Heworth

Yellow Team Match Report
1st Game: Tadcaster Albion 2 – 3 Heworth
Goal Scorers: Harry, James
2nd Game: Tadcaster Albion 3 – 6 Heworth
Goal Scorers: o.g. (2), James

1st Game report
Tadcaster lined up for the first game with Alfie in goal; Daniel and Joseph in defence; Sam and Megan in midfield; Harry up front.
Tadcaster were caught cold at the start of this game by a very strong Heworth side, conceding 2 early goals. A lack of concentration in their own penalty area was the cause of both goals. There was little to cheer for the home crowd as Tadcaster struggled to get out their own half. Megan had to go off towards the end of the half to be replaced by James, but another goal conceded left the home side with a mountain to climb in the second half. Half Time score: Tadcaster 0, Heworth 3.
Megan and Emily replaced Daniel and Sam for the second half. Tadcaster needed to get an early goal and that’s just what they did – Harry pouncing to poke the ball home after the goalkeeper dropped a shot. Chances came and went at both ends – Alfie playing an absolute blinder in goal to keep Tadcaster in with a chance. With a couple of minutes to go, James collected the ball in his own half and set off at full tilt, beating four Heworth players before slotting the ball into the bottom corner. Tadcaster were well on top and the home crowd were loving it, but time ran out on a brave second half performance. Final score: Tadcaster 2, Heworth 3.

2nd Game report
The line up for the second game was Megan in goal, Emily and Daniel in defence; James, Sam and Harry in midfield; Alfie up front.
Again, Tadcaster went 3-0 down in the first half, and yet again they came back strongly against the Heworth ‘A’ team. The first Tadcaster goal came from a deflected corner driven in by James. Half Time score: Tadcaster 1, Heworth 3.
Tadcaster got another goal back early in the second half – again from a deflected corner. Then after Alfie had been fouled twice in succession, James smashed in a free kick to bring the scores level at 3-3. That was as good as it got though and Heworth’s extra pace and strength told as they scored 3 goals to run out comfortable winners. Final score: Tadcaster 3, Heworth 6.

Tadcaster were beaten by the better side in both games, but for sheer effort, determination and bravery, there was only one winner for me !

Man of the Match: A very tough decision. But, its not easy being a ‘keeper and after conceding 3 in the first half of the first game, Alfie showed great determination & bravery, not to mention pulling off some great saves. Well done Alfie !

Hamilton Panthers v Tadcaster Riverside Albion (Under 8's)

U8’s Hamilton Panthers ‘v’ Tadcaster Riverside Albion

6th January 2008.
Yellow Team Match Report
1st Game
Hamilton Panthers 0 – 8 Tadcaster Albion
Goal Scorers: Harry (3), James (3), Megan, o.g.
2nd Game
Hamilton Panthers 1 – 2 Tadcaster Albion
Goal Scorers: Alfie, James

1st Game report
The Yellow team lined up for the first game with Alfie in goal; Emily and Joseph defence; James and Megan in midfield; Harry up front.
Tadcaster kicked off the competitive league in style with a convincing win. In difficult, muddy conditions, Albion applied pressure from the off and were quickly two goals up, both goals coming from Harry (the second one was the goal of the match). Further first half goals from Megan along with a couple for James meant Tadcaster were virtually home and dry by half time. Half time score: Hamilton Panthers 0, Tadcaster 5.
Daniel and Declan came on for the second half, replacing Emily and Megan. Tadcaster continued their solid display with both Daniel and Declan getting in some early tackles. Harry was the first to complete his hat-trick and James soon followed. The scoring was completed when one of the Panther’s defenders unluckily sliced the ball into his own net from a Tadcaster corner. Final score: Hamilton Panthers 0, Tadcaster Albion 8.
Overall, this was a strong, solid display.

2nd Game report
The line up for the second game was Megan in goal; Daniel and Emily in defence; James and Declan in midfield; Alfie up front.
Goals from James and Alfie gave Tadcaster a 2-0 half time lead and despite and early second half goal from Hamilton, Tadcaster held out for a great win. Final score: Hamilton Panthers 1, Tadcaster Albion 2.
The team had been switched around for the second game with some of the stronger Tadcaster players getting a rest. The effort throughout this match proved what a great squad the yellow team are. Joseph is really starting to look confident with the ball; Daniel played his best match of the season and Declan had a great first match.

Man of the Match: Daniel – some good defensive positioning and strong tackling. Keep up the good work. Well done Dan !

Tadcaster Magnets 2 - Tadcaster Albion 2 (Under 10's A-Team)

Tadcaster Albion Under 10's "A Team" fought manfully to come back from 2-0 down to draw against Tadcaster Magnets at the Cricket Pitch. It was end to end action with 'Our Mick' directing the play from the sidelines. Even though we had more than a few absentees, the lads who turned out kept up their determination and if injury time had been played could well have prevailed. Tad Albion maintain their position 4 places above their hometown rivals. Results/league as shown here: - http://www.mitchellsoccer.co.uk/html/Under10.htm
