Under 10's (B-Team) Match Reports - January 2008

6th January 2008
Tadcaster Magnets 2 - Tadcaster Albion 0 (B-Team)

A fantastic start back after the Christmas break . Even though the score does not represent fully the superb football played by the B team against the league leaders . We held our own with all the team working together to really make them fight for the goals our defence was a force to reckoned with Harry J and Eddie F performing to their usual high standards . The 1st goal came from an amazing header straight into the top right hand corner and the 2nd being an unlucky deflection . Danny did a fantastic job of man marking a player much bigger than him and prevented him from scoring on a couple of occasions . The strikers fought hard to score but unfortunately it wasn't to be our day . Everyone walked away with their heads held high at an outstanding performance .

Man of the Match (1st game) The Whole Team .
Man of the Match 2nd game Harry J.

13th January 2008.
Tadcaster Albion 0 - Osbaldwick 2 (B-Team)

An under par performance for us this week . This was yet again another tough match against the second in the league. We, unfortunately, lost to the better team on the day . We showed moments of our usual standard with Danny S and Eddie F battling hard for some of the match . Becks was (as always) reliable and thinking about her position making sure she was in place to score if the ball reached her.

Man of the Match (1st game) Eddie F.
Man of the Match (2nd game) Danny S.

20th January 2008.
Brooklyn 0 - Tadcaster Albion 1(B-Team)

A much better performance and back to our winning ways . This again was to be a difficult match played on a pitch with a certain slope . The defence held firm with solid performances from Eddie, Harry, James. Jay pulled off some solid saves to keep Brooklyn's strikers from scoring . With Jacob L making a run and scoring the only goal of the match he earned himself Man of the Match. The second game had players changing positions completely, with Harry J and Jonathan W both taking turns in goal and doing a very good job and Jay playing striker and scoring the winning goal to finish off what Matty J and Jacob L had started . This left the full time score 2 -3. Luke earned himself Man of the Match for the second game for his solid performance in left wing displaying strength and good ball control .

Man of the Match (1st game) Jacob L.
Man of the Match (2nd game) Luke .

27th January 2008.
Tadcaster Albion 2 - Pickering 1(B-Team)

This was always going to be a game of two halves, with the wind playing a major part. Pickering won the toss and decided to play with the wind at their backs in the first half and it was no surprise when they went a goal up. Tadcaster Albion B Team soon rallied in the second half to bring it back to a draw with a well taken goal from Jacob L, soon followed up by a second goal from Jacob D with a great strike. Stephen played to his usual standard covering most of the pitch with his tireless legs . Jonathan was again an important part of the team and moved into Beck's spot on t and managed to play her position with pride (hope your feeling better Becks!). Harry J, Matthew A and Eddie F all showed their usual skill and great team spirit. Many thanks to Graham for his usual high standard of refereeing.

Leeds Utd Name McAllister as New Boss

Our contacts within Leeds Utd were obviously on the right track.........!
Leeds have appointed former player Gary McAllister as their new manager after Dennis Wise's move to Newcastle.
Ex-Scotland midfielder McAllister, 43, who played for Leeds from 1990 to 1996, has joined initially until the summer.
He also played for Leicester, Liverpool and Coventry, whom he managed for 18 months before leaving to care for wife Denise, who died of cancer in 2006.
McAllister, who won 57 caps, was in the frame for the Scotland job before Alex McLeish was appointed in 2007.
However, he pulled out of the running to succeed McLeish early on and George Burley got the job earlier this month.
Wise left the club on Tuesday after 15 months in charge, while assistant Dave Bassett has also departed.
