Pickering Town no longer play at Flamingoland, they are at Carr Lane which just outside of Pickering in Middleton.

Head off the A64 on the Malton Road A169 - hit the roundabout in the middle of Pickering - turn left on to the A170 - head towards Middleton and you will arrive at the left turning onto Carr Lane (I'm told you can see the goalposts from the road). Tockwith 2 v Tadcaster Albion 4 U15 Girls League Cup
Prelim Round

On a drizzly Saturday morning Tadcaster took on Tockwith of the North Division of the League
Tadcaster started by conceeding an early goal from a goalmouth scaramble leaving the keeper flaked out on the floor. Shortly after Tadcaster struck back with a goal from Katy Falkingham soon to be followed by a second. Tockwith piled on the pressure and scored a second into the top right corner of the net. Pressure was back on Tadcaster and Katy Falkingham stepped up a gear and put a third past the Tockwith keeper for a hat-trick 3 - 2 at half time. At the start of the second half Tockwith brought the game on to Tadcaster and threatened several times keeping Kathryn busy and on her toes, until Bex's Illingworth went on a one player campain starting from her own goal mouth dribbling past 3-4 players letting rip with scorching midway shot and scoring the goal of the match.

Tad Albion U9s 'v' Poppleton (22nd February)

'A' Team Match Reports

Tadcaster Albion 0 – 0 Poppleton

Tadcaster entertained title hopefuls Poppleton on a breezy but mild February morning at Riverside School.
The home team lined up knowing that in order to get anything out of this game they would need a top performance; and that’s exactly what they delivered with a great overall display.
Right from the first whistle, Tadcaster were up for the contest and they battled and scrapped for the whole 30 minutes. The midfield trio of Ethan, Jack and James along with Tom up front put in their best overall display of the post-Christmas matches and in particular, there were definite signs of improvement when in possession. Although the execution wasn’t always great, the intent was there to try and pass the ball to players in better positions. If that continues to improve, the goals will come.
In summary, this was a terrific game between two closely matched teams and it’s a credit to the players that they have managed to hold their own against one of the strongest sides in the league. The stand-out performances once again were from George and Scott in defence who dealt with virtually Poppleton had to offer. A mention also for Alfie who, despite having very little to do for the most part, kept his concentration well to pull of two great saves.

This was another really close game that was won by Poppleton with 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the second half. Tadcaster had several good chances, particularly on the break, but the ball just didn’t roll kindly for them today and then ended goal-less.

U11's Trip To Elland Rd - Rugby League World Cup

Tad Albion U9s 'v' Fulford (1st February)

Tadcaster Albion 0 – 0 Fulford

A bitterly cold February morning saw Tadcaster entertain Fulford hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
After the slightly lack luster performance last time out, Tadcaster knew they had plenty of room for improvement. The early signs were good as the midfield trio of Tom, Ethan and Jack quickly gained the upper hand. The Fulford defence was resolute however and snuffed out every half chance which came Tadcaster’s way. As the first half developed Fulford got themselves back into the game and what followed was an intriguing battle between two very evenly matched teams. The closest either team came to breaking the deadlock was a cracking long range effort from Tom which just cleared the cross bar.
The second half followed the pattern of the first half with both sides playing some neat football, but neither team seriously looking like scoring. Half chances came and went at either end; Alfie had to be brave to smother a Fulford attack and in the last couple of minutes Tadcaster pressed hard for the winner but just didn’t quite get the luck they needed.
Overall this was a massively improved display from Tadcaster. Great energy and determination from every single player.
Man of the Match: George – Had a storming game in defence.

2nd Game report
Tadcaster Albion 1 – 0 Fulford

Both sides fielded largely the same teams as in the first match and the result was another close game. Tadcaster had some good chances before the break, but some admirable scrambling defence from Fulford coupled with Tadcaster’s tendency to hang on to the ball a little bit too long saw the half end goal-less.
Thankfully, the second half did see a goal and to the delight of the home crowd it went to Tadcaster with Jack bundling the ball in from close range for what turned out to be the winner.
Man of the Match: Ethan – a tireless display in midfield.

Scam !

Young players, clubs and parents are advised about a scam that The FA has recently been made aware of.Persons purporting to be licensed agents are sending out spam emails promising trials with various clubs, using details from the list of licensed agents on the FIFA website, www.fifa.com. The clubs and the Agents whose names have been used have no knowledge of the potential 'trials'.The scam appears to work around promising trials to young players with various clubs and then asking for payment in advance to cover 'insurance and travel'. Once the money is sent, no more is heard.Anyone who is a victim of this scam should contact their local police.

Tad Albion U9s 'v' Rawcliffe (18th January)

'A' Team Match Reports

Rawcliffe 0 – 0 Tadcaster Albion
Squad: Alfie, Charlie, Ethan, George, Jack, James, Sam, Scott, Tom

A cold damp January morning saw Tadcaster travel to Rawcliffe hoping to build on last week’s draw with Bishopthorpe.
Tadcaster were slow out of the blocks as Rawcliffe took control of the early proceedings. Scott and George had their hands full at the back as the Rawcliffe midfield quickly gained the upper hand. Tadcaster, still rusty from the long lay off through November, December and early January just never got going. They were guilty of dwelling too long on the ball when they had possession and lost out on nearly all of the 50/50 balls in midfield. Having said that, credit must be given to Rawcliffe, who played extremely well - they passed the ball as well as any team Tadcaster have faced this season.
The second half followed the pattern of the first. Rawcliffe were well on top, but for all their domination in midfield, they rarely looked like scoring. In the end, a draw was probably a good result for Tadcaster.
Not quite the performance we were looking for, but there were plenty of positives to take from the game. Commitment was great as usual and between them Scott, George and Charlie managed to snuff of most of the danger. When he was needed Alfie showed great determination and bravery charging out to collect the ball.
Man of the Match: Alfie – Great concentration in goal. Did well when we needed him.

2nd Game report
Rawcliffe 0 – 0 Tadcaster Albion
Squad: Alfie, Charlie, Ethan, George, Jack, James, Louis, Scott, Tom

Tadcaster showed signs of improvement in the second game. As a whole the team displayed a lot more cohesion and a bit more determination to be first to the loose ball. Louis got himself into some good forward positions, as did Alfie, but neither could find the space against a very well organized Rawcliffe defence.
The second half saw Tom pushed up after his defensive stint and he nearly broke the deadlock towards the end of the match. Great work down the right hand side saw the ball fall to Tom on front of goal, but tired legs saw him blaze the ball just over the bar.
Man of the Match: Tom – Stood out for Tadcaster with a great effort for the team.

Malton 2-TAJFC 2 + Match Rearranged

TAJFC had an unsettled day at their away fixture against Old Malton. Playing on a VAST pitch the Lads were 2-0 up when Josh J took a shoulder barge from an opposing player that resulted in a movement from which Old Malton scored. Unfortunately the injury to Josh was quite severe and necessitated a trip to A&E. Shortly after this Joel B was the victim of a mistimed tackle and took a nasty knock to his hip. Briefly down to 10 men, a rattled TAJFC conceded a second goal.
Joel B was allowed back on the pitch and was promptly booked for dissent following an altercation with a Malton player.

Though the play throughout the game was a little "confused" it was an improvement on last week (just!). Our Goalie John kept us in the game - again - and was awarded Man of The Match for the second week running. The goals came from Joe Simon and one from Young George Brown - "come on down"!

STOP PRESS**
Next week's home game against Tadcaster Magnets has been re-arranged to Sunday 15th March. We have no match next Sunday - training as normal on Friday.

Many thanks to all those who have bought tickets for the Valentine's Party. This fundraising event is crucial to the running of the Club in the period prior to the TAJFC Tournament. The expenses for running TAJFC have increased dramatically with the costs of running the 2 full size pitches at the Ings alone total £5,000+ excluding the cost of referees, kits or equipment.
I understand if this type of event might not appeal or it may be difficult or expensive to get babysitters or transport on the night. If you can't come or you think the event is not for you - could I respectfully request a small contribution towards the running of the club for the next couple of months. U11 New Year Training & Matches 2009

Training re-starts on Friday 2nd January 2009 at Tadcaster Leisure Centre 5:50pm - 7pm for TAJFC and TAB. Subs are due (some have already paid me, thanks) - I'll have a list of amounts due on Friday.





TAJFC players have generally been paying in advance and we have almost had a 100% turnout every week (again-thank you!) We have to 'block book' the Sports Hall so Tadcaster Albion Blues need to pay Nick Devine £4 (plus any previous amounts owed) at the Blues match on Sunday 4th January.

age groups, and many of our teams are top of their respective leagues, a proud position to be in at
the end of 2008. Let’s hope this can continue throughout 2009. Our Club is run by enthusiastic
volunteers giving up much of their valuable time, but we wouldn’t have a Junior section if it wasn’t
for the boys and girls who play their hearts out every week, supported by an ever faithful band of
supportive parents who stand in all weather cheering for their sons and daughters. As we go into

1st Annual Valentine Party

The 1st Annual TAJFC Valentine Party takes place on Saturday 14th February 2009. This event should be a welcome break for all of the 'black-tie' and formal events you have been to over the Christmas period! It's going to be a BIG EVENT with live music, dancing, food, more dancing and the possibilty of a few drinks through the course of the evening. We have booked both floors of the Riley Smith Hall with a quality buffet being served over a 2 hour period. Anybody who is anyone will be there and places are going fast. Directions To Poppleton Lions (TAJFC U11's)

TAJFC (U11's) have an away match this weekend at Poppleton Lions;
The address of the ground is Millfield Lane, Nether Poppleton, YO26 6NT. Last game of the year and we need GOALS! Meet at 10am.
Training at Tad Leisure Centre is ON for tonight, next Friday and 19th December. Some people paid their subs for the first 4 weeks so this is now due again. (A couple of people paid £5 so are not due again until next week - some paid until Christmas). I won't be there tonight but Mick will be asking you to tick a box to confirm your attendance at the Under 11's Christmas Party next Saturday 13th. Thanks and see you on Sunday!

TAJFC Girls U15 vs Pocklington

"TADCASTER ALBION U15 GIRLS fought out a tough-tackling 0-0 draw away at POCKLINGTON TOWN in the freezing fog. Chances were few and far between with Beth Shindler and Fran Coldwell coming closest for Taddy. At the other end, Taddy's player of the day, Kathryn Clow, pulled off a brilliant late save to deny the home side and maintain Taddy's second place in York League South Division."

Copmanthorpe 3 - TAJFC 7 (Under 11's)

Excellent team performance from TAJFC Under 11's at Copmanthorpe and a really entertaining match to watch. Brass monkey weather, but a performance to warm the heart....; We had drama - Matty Orr taking out the back of the net with a piledriver........we had pathos - one of the best keepers we have come across all season unable to stop our goal scorers and comedy - Joel conceeding a penalty and then taking out a pigeon flying at 60ft. Goals galore from the usual suspects, really superb defending from Hazza, Sam, Josh Macca and Man of The Match "Raw Meat" himself. Special thanks to our substitute goalie - George. One game left - York Cubs at home on the 7th - TAJFC retain their position at the top of their division. Christmas Party 13th December!

TAJFC Girls U15 v Pocklington Town

"TADCASTER ALBION ALBION U15 GIRLS eased to a comfortable 2-0 home win against a physical POCKLINGTON TOWN in the York League South Division. Taddy stretched their unbeaten run to five games with two superb first half strikes from Taddy's girl of the game Katie Falkingham, the first a one-on-one with the keeper and the second a rasping drive from outside the area. The home side never looked like conceding and throughly deserved their win."

TAJFC - Under 12's - Promoted and Unbeatable

TAJFC U12's are one of our most successful teams across the agegroups. They were promoted from Division 2 last season and are currently top of Division 1 and in with a strong chance of claiming the Championship. Fantastic achievement - well done lads!

TAJFC 5 - Copmanthorpe 2 (Under 11's)

TAJFC had a slight return to form on Sunday 16th with a shaky but nonetheless victorious performance. I am sure that the scoreline looks convincing enough, but given the chances Tadcaster had the score should have been 10-0.

Goals came from Joe Simon (2), Harry Hardy (1 -penalty) and Joel Brown (2). Despite this being a good team effort there were some players who had a higher work rate; notably Matty Orr, Adam Brammar and Man of The Match - Joseph "M.D." Simon.

Mick has vowed to "up the ante" during our fitness training on Friday so don't have any fizzy drinks in the preceeding 24 hours. Joking apart we have been very pleased with the response to this type of training.

Mick & I put up the nets and corner flags........(it's nice to be able to chat without fear of interruption) with an offer of assistance coming from the parent who lives furthest from the venue(Mr Cheetham!). Thanks to all of the people who helped us pack up and thanks to Mark & Cath Jackson who prepare the drinks every week; a little more help prior to the game would be appreciated. For those of you with SatNav in your Volkswagen the postcode is LS24 9AY. There were an array of items left behind which we will bring to training on Friday. Only a couple of games left until Christmas and we are joint-top on points with some team called Osbaldwick. Let's go into the Christmas break in the best possible position!

Cub/Scouts - Potential Match Clash 14th December 2008

John Swift has alerted me to a potential clash between a Cub/Scout event and matches for the Under 10's and Under 11's.

The Scouts are going to "Wet & Wild" in North Shields on Sunday 14th December and the trip will last from 9:00am to 6:00pm. On the same day, TAJFC Under 11's are due to meet Pickering Town (away), TABlues Under 11's are due to play Huntington at home and TAJFC Under 10's have a fixture with Pocklington (away).

Speaking for the TAJFC Under 11's, it seems likely that quite a lot of our team will be at 'Wet & Wild' so we may have to postpone.

Could you please get in touch with your respective managers/admin to confirm whether you will be available to play or not - we need to give notice (and a good reason) to the League - please don't leave it to chance and get in touch as soon as possible. Apologies if Cubs are not involved.

Blast From The Past

This was the first game ever played by "Bass Juniors" (against Tadcaster Albion!). Bass Juniors became "Tadcaster Riverside Albion" which eventually became the major part of "TAJFC". As you can see in 2001 this team was coached by members of The Village People.

U15 Girls vs Sherburn White Rose

TADCASTER ALBION U15 GIRLS drew 2-2 in their top of the table clash at SHERBURN WHITE ROSE in the York League South Division. Tadcaster struggled to find their usual fluent passing game but eventually found the back of the net with a well worked move down the right side involving Jordanne, Bexs and eventually netted by Beth Shindler,Taddy showed some good defecive football with strong performances from Vicky, Bex's, Jordanne and Jess. Taddy's second goal came from a goal mouth scrammble scored by Katy Falkingham. Sherburn pulled one back with a corking volly ( a contender for goal of the season) leaving Kathryn stood wondering where the rocket came from! on the stroke of half-time. After another scrappy goal mouth scramble allowed Sherburn to grabbed an equaliser five minutes from the final whistle to stay top of the table. Jess Moorhouse was Taddy's girl of the game.".Today's subs where Rachel and Sarah. Tad 'keeper and mascot pictured!

Mini Soccer Annual Skills Event

Mini-Soccer Annual Skills Event
22nd November at 10am - 12pm.
Tadcaster Albion Football Ground.
This event replaces our usual Saturday mornming training and we are expecting all the players to attend. It will be a fun event for the players, with a range of fun skills for all ages and abilities, there will be trophies for the skills kings in all age groups and those who provide the most energy.
Parents can use the club house, tea, coffee and bacon butties will be on sale and the bar opens at 11am! We will also have hats on sale.

Our club is only funded through sponsorship. Signing on fees pay insurance and administration but do not provide any funds for our training equipment, fees, kits and other costs.

We do not hold many fund raising events, and we have elected not to charge training fee's, so any fundraising we do is critical for the survival of the club.
It would be great if every player could raise some sponsorship for the event, if you need a sponsor form ask your coach
The coaches and helpers look forward to seeing you at the event, please bring your sponsor form for signing off at the end of the day.

Osbaldwick vs TAJFC (U11's)

There was a real "muck & bullets" clash at Osbaldwick on Sunday 9th November, when the U11's braved the biting wind and rain to meet the title-chasers a spit from the B&Q car park (some patio heaters would have come in useful).
Perhaps it was the because the match was played in the fading light of the afternoon, or perhaps it was because it followed a long trip to Alton Towers the previous day, but the mighty TAJFC were definitely below their normal standard. After the customary 2 mins silence for Remembrance Sunday the lads fought an epic battle against an Osbaldwick side who looked as though some of them were married with children and had driven themselves to the game.
