Tad Albion U9s 'v' Pickering (19th October)
'A' Team Match Reports 
Tadcaster Albion 5 – 3 Pickering
Squad: Alfie, Charlie, Ethan, George, Jack, James, Joseph, Sam, Scott, Tom
Scorers: Jack(2), James(2), Tom
Early morning drizzle eased just before kick off to give way to a pleasant mild October Sunday and the first visit of Pickering to Riverside.
Tadcaster were looking to put the previous week’s frustrations behind them and the early signs were promising as the home side enjoyed most of the early possession. The Pickering ‘keeper was being kept busy by some good long range shooting before Jack got the breakthrough, firing in from an acute angle. Amazingly though, Pickering pulled level with what must have been their first foray into the Tadcaster half. 
Tadcaster stuck to the game plan though (there was one, honest!) and were rewarded when Jack ran on to the ball ‘Steven Gerrard-Style’ and struck a sweet half volley which fizzed right into the top corner. James then danced past three Pickering defenders and slotted the ball past the ‘keeper to give Tadcaster a well deserved 3-1 half time lead.
Early in the second half, Tom got his reward for some excellent long range shooting when he found the top corner from well outside the area. It looked like Tadcaster might run away with the match, but once again, against the run of play, Pickering pulled another goal back. In fact if Alfie hadn’t pulled off a great save at 4-2, things might have been tense for the last few minutes. James effectively settled things with another super strike before Pickering completed the scoring in the last minute.
This was a hugely entertaining game and in terms of ‘team play’, a massive improvement on last week. In fact, as I’m writing this, I still can’t quite believe that Pickering scored 3 and that Tadcaster only scored 5 – such was our dominance. There were some great goals today and the scorers will rightly get the plaudits. Credit must also go to Alfie in goal and Charlie, George and Scott in defence who provided the platform for Tadcaster to dominate.
Man of the Match: Jack – Fantastic all round display including the goal of the game.

First half goals from Sam (who looks so happy when he scores I’m sure one day he’s going to literally burst with joy), James and then Ethan gave Tadcaster a commanding 3-0 half time lead.
With a comfortable lead, Charlie, Scott and George were pushed up and they can all count themselves unlucky not to have scored. None of them were as unlucky as Tom though whose goal-bound shot had the ‘keeper beaten all ends up, only to see it ‘saved’ when Alfie couldn’t quite get out of the way. Pickering pulled a goal back before Alfie then had the cheek to score himself.
Once again though, the away side had the last say as the game ended 4-2 - great entertainment again. Man of the Match: Tom – a true ‘team player’. Ran himself into the ground today.

Great all around performance from 'the team to beat'. Some real fight & dedication being shown by our players in both halves. Well deserved Man Of The Match to Adam Brammar - he's our current secret weapon - looks like he wouldn't hurt a fly, but tackles like a man who lives on raw meat! Goals from Paul Hick, Josh Jackson, Joe "Mr Dynamite" Simon, and a couple from current Division 2 Top Scorer - Joel Brown. Housekeeping: We need to be at our matches (home or away) at 10am. Some parents are coming from villages on the A64 and collecting colleagues on the way - if they are marginally late this is understandable, however at yesterday's match players who are in Tacaster, Stutton and Towton turned up at 10:10 after Mick & I had spent 30 mins setting up goals & nets. Also, both Mick & I spent valuable pre-match time doing up 4 sets of bootlaces(!). JJB sell elasticated laces that won't come undone - currently in the sale at £1 a pair. Part of being a succesful team is 'looking the part' - when players trot out on to the hallowed ground they should have laces tied, taped or stapled to the foot, undershirts concealed, socks pulled up and noses wiped....; Breath-fresherners are optional.

U15 Girls beat Bishopthorpe 3-2
"TADCASTER ALBION U15 GIRLS edged a thrilling 3-2 victory at home to BISHOPTHORPE WHITE ROSE to go second in the York League South division. In a topsy-turvy game, the visitors scored after a minute of play with a surprise goal. Tadcaster quickly pulled a goal back before Taddy took a 2-1 half-time lead with goals from Jordanne Devine and Katie Falkingham. After Taddy missed a penalty Bishopthorpe equalised putting the pressure on the home team, an end to end game was won when Katie Falkingham grabbed the winner in a goal mouth scrammbel. Bex Illingworth was Taddy girl of the game with an out standing centre half performance."

http://www.playfootball.net/ is a new facility adjoining the Roko Health Club on Stirling Road at Clifton Moor retail park. Our party will enjoy a 2 hour party package that includes 1 and a half hours football, a dedicated Coach/Party Host for the duration of the visit, free use of the Roko Health Centre & Pool for the parents(!), Trophy for competition winner, half time drinks (fruit squash), fun awards/certificates, PlayFootball party bags, food & drink in the Sports Bar.
We then have a 100 yard brisk march to http://www.tenpin.co.uk/ where we are booked in at 5:00pm (arrive at 4:45pm) for 2 games of Ten Pin plus some thoroughly unhealthy party food - (don't worry you'll have burnt off the energy in the Five-A-Side). The Coach will collect us at the bowling alley at 7:00pm - return to Tadcaster for approx 7:30pm. (no driving for parents - hurrah!)

Tad Manager Named In Madonna Divorce!
Madonna has blamed her errant husbands' companions as a major cause for her seeking a divorce from Guy Ritchie. TAJFC Under 11's Director of Football - Nick Brown was surprised to be named by Madonna as one of the major culprits. She is quoted as saying "I am tired of Guy staying out until all hours with his friends Jason Statham, Christopher Biggins and that Nick Brown from Tadcaster - it's time they all grew up and realised that there is more to life than drinking diet Coke and talking about soccer (football)" Nick is pictured here on the razzle with Guy Ritchie at the Cumberland Hotel in Marble Arch.Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Tad Albion U9s 'v' Woodthorpe (12th October)

Tadcaster Albion 3 – 1 Woodthorpe

Warm autumn sunshine greeted the visit of Woodthorpe to Riverside. Sporting their fantastic new kit (thanks again to Nick Brown) and following last week’s goal fest at Pocklington, confidence was running high; but perhaps today was a lesson in avoiding over confidence. Woodthorpe have never beaten Tadcaster and on the basis of the first 5 minutes that didn’t look like changing – Tadcaster were well on top and spent much of the game camped in the Woodthorpe half. For all their dominance however, the home side never quite clicked as they have the previous two weeks. Lots of good individual skill and effort on show, but a reluctance to play simple football as a team will cost us dearly against better sides. In the end it was a relief to see Jack break the deadlock, quickly followed by another from James. Against the run of play, a good break away from Woodthorpe pegged Tadcaster’s lead back to a single goal at half time, but the game was still there for the taking.
Once again, Tadcaster were in the ascendancy for most of the second half and with a little bit more composure in front of goal they could have bagged a hat full. In the end Tom got the only goal of the second half to complete a comprehensive if slightly frustrating win.
Man of the Match: Sam – really good play, especially when covering in defence.

TAJFC U11's outplay Magnets (2-3)
"Superb Team Effort", "True Grit" and "Taxi For Magnets?" were just some of the observations made by the crowd of supporters who watched TAJFC beat Magnets 3-2. For once the scoreline didn't flatter TAJFC who were the much stronger team. There were one or two decisions that went against TAJFC (dead-cert penalty and an second goal from Magnets that seemed to be offside) but through concentration and determination the lads registered their 6th straight win of the season. Similar effort needed with our most capable opponents next week please!
Man of The Match went to John Broadley, with excellent defensive performances from Adam Brammar, Matty Orr, and Sam Cheetham. The goals came from Joe Simon, Paul Hick and Joel Brown.

Under 15's Girls Beat Copmanthorpe 5 - 0
TADCASTER ALBION U15 GIRLS continued their good form with a 5-0 win at home to COPMANTHORPE in the York League South division. A first half hat-trick from Katie Falkingham, who was Taddy's joint girl of the game with Vicky Wrigley, sealed the comfortable win. Rachel Clarkson and Bex Illingworth also scored. The Girls have a new kit provided by sponsor 'Heron Landscapes' and will provide a squad picture shortly........;

New Under 9's Kit!
One of our Club Sponsors has provided a new kit for our current Under 9's. This is the same 'Porto' kit worn by the Under 10's and TAJFC Under 11's. The sizes have been allocated so that we should get 2/3 years useage from the kit at least (with a few supplementary items in 2010-11). So.......your shirt & shorts might be a bit baggy initially, but a perfect fit when you are top of Division 1 in The Ryedale League.

1st Game report
Pocklington 0 - 10 Tadcaster Albion

Yes, that’s right. Its not a typo. 10-0 to Tadcaster!
On a splendidly sunny Sunday morning, Tadcaster Under 9’s first fixture with Pocklington proved to be a very fruitful one. The word on the football grapevine was that new boys Pocklington were not quite up to the pace of competitive football yet and this proved to be the case as Tadcaster produced a clinical performance to dispatch the home side in style.
Pocklington actually started quite well and throughout the match showed glimpses of potential; however they were no match for the speed, strength and skill of Tadcaster. James opened the scoring, but after that it was all about Ethan and those ‘lucky shorts’. Playing in an unfamiliar position up front, Ethan’s radar was slightly off early on as several shots went wide of the target. Once he did hit the target however, the ball hit the back of the net, he realized that scoring was easy and duly went on to complete his hat-trick before half time. Tom scored the other goal to give Tadcaster a 5-0 half time lead.
Team formation was switched around for the second half but the results were the same. Tom completed his hat-trick, Scott scored on his debut and Ethan scored two more to take his tally for the match to five. (There is even a rumor floating around that one of those was with his left foot! Video evidence will be studied as soon as it is available.)
Overall, this was a great performance. Excellent team work throughout and a thoroughly deserved win.
Man of the Match: Ethan – Finally found his shooting boots thanks to those lucky shorts. Long may it continue!

Pocklington’s second team provided more stubborn resistance, and despite dominating the match, Tadcaster couldn’t find the break through as the first half ended goal-less.

he pressure eventually told however early in the second half as Alfie does what Alfie does best, finding the back of the net with a close range effort. The match was sealed when Ethan took a quick short corner to James who rifled the ball in to the top corner.
Man of the Match: Adam – played extremely effective simple football - great passing and movement.
