Kindergarten Training - 16th Jan 2010

Unfortunately there will be no outdoor training on the Riverside School field this weekend as we need to let the grass recover(!).
A THAW is forecast for early next week - so (fingers crossed) we should be back to normal on Saturday 23rd (Check back with this Blog for updates)
It's unfortunate that we have missed a full month, but we should be able to catch up in the Spring/Early Summer. Please pass on the message to any other members/players.

Pock Aztecs 0 - TAJFC 9 (Under 12's)

Starting line-up was Joe, Matty, Josh, Adamski, Joel, Macca, Wardy, Hazza, Craggers, Sam & JB.
Our subs WOULD have been Ollie P & Paul if Ollie P had remembered to bring the right size boots! TAJFC were fully up for it after last week's mangled and mis-cued cup clash against fellow title chasers Rawcliffe Warriors. The promise of chip butties at the end seemed to reverberate through the team like a wave of stifled hysteria. Joe actually asked the ref to hang on whilst he found his emergency ketchup. On Pock's excellent pitch, TAJFC pressed and pressured the opposition relentlessly and during 30 mins Pock only got into the Tad penalty area twice. First half goals came from Josh (5 mins), screamer from Adamski (16 mins), Josh again (22 mins) and Matty on 28 mins. Craggers was suffering from jelly-belly after consuming a Chicken Bhuna following a wild night on the town and was manfully substituted by Paul on 20mins.
Playing against the wind and uphill in the second half, Josh soon found his mark again with a further 2 goals on 35 & 40mins. There was some really superb linking play between Sam, Macca & Joel down the right flank that lead to a goal from Macca on 42mins and a swift follow up came in a similar style with an excellent goal from Matty 60 seconds later. Josh capped off the day with his fifth on 55 mins. The ref must have been feeling the cold because he blew the final whistle at 59:30. Man Of The Match went (for the first time this season - despite being our top goal scorer) to Joel for great skill, strength and vision out on the right. Excellent all-around performance........same again when play them next week, please - goals are vital at this halfway point (Copmanthorpe scored the same amount as us today). See you on Wednesday 6pm. New training kit due this week!

Big thanks to Our Charlie who has provided and organised the delivery of a free 40ft container for shared use by TAJFC and Riverside School. Hard to believe, but Charlie and I lifted this off the low-loader by hand, without breaking a sweat!
The old wooden portakabin is being appraised by the Antiques Roadshow and demolished on Sunday afternoon (1st November). Anyone who is available to help Charlie & I please report to Riverside at 1:30pm with tools.

Tad Albion U10s vs Copmanthorpe (18th October)
'A' Team Match Reports
Tadcaster Albion 1 – 5 Copmanthorpe
Squad: Alfie, Ethan, George, Jack, James, Sam, Scott, Tom
Scorers: James
A fine October morning saw Tadcaster Albion play host to Copmanthorpe down at Riverside.
The same 8 players who performed so heroically against York Cubs on their previous outing were, unfortunately, a long way from that level in this match. Having said that, the first half was fairly evenly balanced with Copmanthorpe taking the lead close to half time when a fairly tame shot somehow squeezed through Alfie’s legs. Had Tadcaster been able to string any sort of passing play together the game was most definitely there for the taking. But too often the ball carrier chose to try and take on the Cop defence rather than look for the easier passing option.
The half time team talk went unheeded with no visible improvement in Tadcaster’s play. Things quickly went from bad to worse as Copmanthorpe knocked the stuffing out of the home team with goals 2 and 3. The away team were on the up and played some lovely football against a Taddy team which had all but given up – scoring twice more. There was late consolation when James pounced to tap in after Tom’s shot had only been parried by the Copmanthorpe ‘keeper. Too little, too late though.
So, in summary, this was a harsh lesson for Tadcaster that to get anywhere in Division 1 takes a team effort. Let’s hope it was “just one of those days” and that the boys can bounce back in two weeks time against Poppleton.
Man of the Match: George – Can hold his head high for not giving up the fight.
2nd Game report
Tadcaster Albion 0 – 3 Copmanthorpe
Squad: Alfie, Ethan, George, Jack, James, Sam, Scott, Tom
Similar attitude and a similar result. The first half was fairly even, finishing goalless, but it was one-way traffic in the second half as Copmanthorpe passed Tadcaster off the park.
Man of the Match: Ethan – Good effort in defence.

TAJFC 5 - Pocklington 0 (Under 11's)
On a cold damp morning down at the ings, Taddy started rather slowly in what should have been a fairly easy game, for the first five minutes, Pocklington saw much of the possession, but couldn’t manage to break down the Tad defence, after that Taddy got into there stride and started to dominate the game, after approx 15 minutes, Austin broke down the left, and after playing a ball into Jamie received a return pass into the area and hit a low shot off the inside of the near post that went in off the far post, after that it was all Taddy, and it wasn’t long before it was 2 – 0, Aran played a long ball down the right to Taylor who carried the ball forward before passing inside to Jamie who fired a low shot under the keeper and into the back of the net, half time 2 – 0.
Second half saw Taddy dominate a now deflated Pocklington side, and within 5 minutes of the restart Austin hit his second of the game after some good work in midfield by Callum, Aran and Cavan, the ball was played to Taylor who slotted it inside to Jamie who put Austin through to fire the ball past the keeper, 3 – 0 Taddy, on the few occasions Pocklington did manage to get into the Taddy half, any chances they had were all snuffed out by the back 4 of Kieren, Priestley, Ryan and Harry, 2 more goals came in the last 10 minutes when Taylor broke down the right wing, got a good cross in which was flicked on by Jamie, then Cavan to Sam who coolly slotted it past the keeper, then with just minutes to go, aran got the ball in midfield, and after evading a couple of tackles passed to Callum, then Adam who knocked into the area where the ball bobbled off several players before Taylor back heeled it into the net, final score Tadcaster Albion 5 – 0 Pocklington Town.
squad ….. Ross, Kieren, Sam, Ryan, Harry, Taylor, Aran, Cavan, Callum, Jamie, Austin,
Adam, Priestley and Owen. Man of the Match Harry exellent defending

TAJFC 9 - Huntington 3 (Under 12's)
Well done to TAJFC Under 12's for a good performance against Huntington today at The Ings.
Starting line-up was Josh J, Matty, Hamish, Adam, Joel, Macca, Ollie W, Hazza, Craig, Sam and JB. Huntington were a smartly turned out, professional-looking side who (at the start of the match) were 3rd in the league, one place above TAJFC. Play was pretty even in the first 10 mins until Hazza broke the deadlock on 12 mins with a shot from just inside the area at an acute angle that went into the top corner. Joel swiftly followed up with 2 goals, coolly taken, at 18 mins and 21 mins. Josh J, who is improving his game week on week, slotted one home on 26 mins and Hazza took the score to 6-0 at half time. Matty, Josh J and Adam gave way to George, Paul and Angus at the break with George playing up front next to Paul and Angus slotting into defence next to Craig.
Paul opened his account almost immediately from the re-start, but Huntington fought back with vigour and pulled one back on 38 mins. Tadcaster lost their shape slightly and conceded another in short order. Hamish scored a blinder on 45 mins with Matty bringing the score to 9 with a great shot on 50 mins. Huntington scored from a debatable free-kick just outside the are which was helped by the strong wind that picked up in the second half. Good overall performance with creditable activity in almost all areas, but, as always, room for improvement! Man Of The Match - Hazza in recognition of his strength, skill and workrate. Congratulations to TABlues who beat Pocklington Aztecs 1-2 and thanks to Joe & Ollie P for their special contribution this week. Training moves to Wednesday nights at 6pm under floodlights - please remember, no steel studs and warm clothing - our new pitch is a bit exposed...;
Thanks to all of the people who have paid deposits to the Christmas Party - this looks like it's going to be a mammoth joint event with the U11's and we may have to increase the numbers available - more info to follow. As always, thanks to the Parents for their help and support.
